David Tobin, Sustainability Manager, Speaks at the United Nations

David Tobin, Sustainability Manager at Lagan Cement, was invited to speak at the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation based in Vienna as part of a conference on sustainable cities.

David was invited by the UN industrial development organisation, based in Vienna, to talk about sustainability in the cement industry, as part of a conference on sustainable cities.

The conference is aimed primarily at developing nations, allowing them to adopt best practice with regard to sustainable development. The invitation is fantastic  recognition of a privately owned cement company achieving industry leading fossil fuel replacement.

It also recognises that Ireland has changed from one of the worst countries in Europe for recycling to one of the best within the last 15 years.

David will be speaking this morning, and attended the other speeches yesterday as well as enjoying a tour around the UN offices and the International Atomic Energy Agency.

We will get some feedback on David's return and also highlight the work Lagan Cement have been doing to continuously reduce our usage of fossil fuels.
