Graduate Students from the Institute of Professional Education of Bologna visited Lagan Cement Works this week.
The institute is the equivalent of the Institute of Management of Ireland. The graduate students were completing a course in:- Management processes in construction, with particular emphasis on sustainable urban regeneration.
The course is funded by the Bologna regional government council and is designed to give new technical graduates a focused education on key areas in management. All of the students were already educated to degree or masters level.
One of the team lecturers is originally from Belfast and was really keen to give the students a real life case study focusing on the built environment. The presentation and tour by the Lagan Cement team was particularly interesting to them, highlighting the processes involved as the plant now uses 65% recycled fuels continuously reducing the need to use fossil fuels.
